Rupee at two-week low, near 95.3 against the dollar
क्या हुआ
On 30 Oct 2026, the Indian rupee weakened to around 95.3 per dollar, its weakest level in two weeks. According to reports, the impact of foreign inflows related to the Jio Platforms IPO is fading, and foreign portfolio outflows continue.
Brent crude is around $114 per barrel, keeping India's import bill high. RBI is slowing the rupee's decline by selling dollars and providing a separate dollar window for government oil companies. USD/INR's all-time high was around 99.82 in March 2026.
इसका मतलब
USD/INR going up means a weaker rupee: more rupees are needed to buy one dollar. India imports most of its oil, so expensive crude = higher dollar demand = pressure on the rupee.
Impact on the common person: petrol-diesel, foreign travel, studying abroad, and imported goods may become more expensive. RBI's intervention doesn't stop the decline, it just softens the shocks. This is for understanding only, not buy/sell advice.
