North Korea denies FBI claim on Binance hack

क्या हुआ

The FBI says North Korea's hacking group "TraderTraitor" (Lazarus Group) was behind the theft of more than $6 billion in crypto from Binance on or about 29 October. Today, 3 Nov, Kim Yo Jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, rejected the accusation through state media (KCNA), calling it "absurd" and a "grave political provocation".
• According to the FBI, the hackers are converting the stolen assets mainly into Ether (ETH); the FBI has asked exchanges and DeFi services to block transactions linked to the hackers' addresses
• Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic says about 12,000 wallets, 11 blockchains and more than 40,000 transactions were used in the first 4 days after the hack (CNBC)
• BBC and CNBC put the hack at about $6.3 billion, some reports at $6.4 billion; the exact amount is not yet confirmed
• According to CNBC, Binance said it will gradually reopen withdrawals for more assets and networks from today
The same group was also blamed for the $1.5 billion Bybit hack in 2025 (BBC).

इसका मतलब

After a big hack, the stolen money is moved through thousands of wallets and several blockchains (laundering) to hide its trail. Every blockchain transaction is public, so agencies and analytics firms flag such addresses and try to get exchanges to block them.

Lesson: the security of coins kept on an exchange is in the exchange's hands, so it is important to understand custody risk. This is for understanding only, not buy/sell advice.

सिर्फ़ समझ के लिए, prediction नहीं। यह buy/sell सलाह नहीं है, ख़बर पढ़कर सीधे trade न करें।
