Binance says 90% of stolen crypto now replenished
Binance published its "Recovery Update #3" on Saturday, 31 Oct, at about 7:54 PM (IST). According to the exchange's own statement: • 90% of the assets stolen in this week's $6.3 billion hack have now been covered; in the previous update (30 Oct) it was about 80% • 10 tokens — BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC — are said to be 100% backed • The remaining 10% are less liquid tokens, which are being bought through the market and OTC deals • The money comes from three places: part of the SAFU fund, part of the Futures insurance fund and Binance's own corporate treasury • A new Proof of Reserves snapshot was taken at 00:00 UTC on 31 Oct; the full zero-knowledge proof is expected by Tuesday, 3 Nov (UTC) • Withdrawals are still paused. Binance says it is on track to reopen them on Sunday, 1 Nov, and will share details once they are confirmed. These figures are Binance's own and have not yet been confirmed by an independent auditor. According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin was around $77,500 at about 9:30 PM (IST), roughly flat over 24 hours.
